Process for driving crash courses

We get asked this question a lot.Here is how it works.

1.Choose the length of course.You can make this choice yourself,ask ourselves for advice or take an assessment lesson.

2.Pay the deposit to secure the course.This can be done from the website or over the phone.At this point you will be able to chose a start date and please leave 7 days notice.

3.Once the deposit is received you will be sent a confirmation sales order email.

4.A further email will be sent with further course including instructor and course details.At this point you can have a discussion about time scale and test date window.

5.Search started for a test date and begin your course.

Over view and what to expect.

Automatic or manual?

This is a tricky decision.At the moment it still makes sense to choose manual but the headwinds are changing with electric vehicles(automatic) becoming more mainstream.If you are happy driving either then manual will still give you more car choice especially in the used car market.If you prefer to drive an automatic only then there are still plenty of small cars now available and with developments in automatic gearbox technology,they are just as efficient as their manual counterparts.Nearly all manufacturers offer automatic versions and with electric becoming more popular,it will soon become the default choice.

Feedback from the DVSA regarding the new test

2 things which have been reported by examiners with regards to the new test.The first is that candidates are taking their eyes off the road for too long when asked to operate one of the controls as part of the show me element questions.To avoid this,make sure you fully understand how all the controls work before starting your test.The other point is that candidates are looking too long at the Sat Nav or alternatively not looking at it at all which is creating problems.My previous post with the official DVSA advice link with regards to using a Sat Nav is helpful with this.

If you have time,spread the course out!

Just because a course uses the words intensive or crash,it doesnt have to be crammed into a couple of days.We always advice where possible to spread the course over a longer period,maybe a couple of weeks.This helps to take the pressure off as well as making the experience that little more enjoyable.Still,sometimes that isn't possible and a full fat crash course is the only way.Remember the courses will include breaks and its important to use these.It can be draining if your driving for 5 or 6 hrs a day so take time out as it will certainly help the learning process.

Crash courses in the Stockport Area

How do intensive driving courses work?

Unlike normal driving lessons which can be spread over months(sometimes years),they are condensed into weeks with a test found usually within 3 weeks of the course starting.At Intensive Lessons4u there is flexibility so it doesn't always have to be squeezed into a week.The course can be tailored to fit the clients availability.Maybe 6 hours 1 week and 14 hours the following week for example.Sometimes its not possible to take holidays consecutively so we understand and are happy to work with you.

Choosing a crash course

Choosing the correct intensive driving course is an important decision to make,Get it wrong and it will cost you time and money with re taking the test.A complete beginner on average will need a minimum of 30 hours professional tuition and remember you will need 2 hours for the test day itself which includes a lesson before the test. If your driving privately as well then that can reduce the number of hours you need.Your course provider will have information on the website relating to each course and more professional companies will have a phone number to call where advise will be available to help with your decision.

Is an intensive driving course right for you?

If you are in a hurry to pass your test,maybe for work reasons or just dont fancy doing lessons over a longer period then an intensive or crash course would make sense.You would need time to take the course so if working then taking time off is required.You would also need to have flexibility to take time off for a short notice driving test.Courses are more expensive then normal driving lessons but factor in the test fee and ability to provide a cancellation test.Test waiting lists can be up to 12 weeks in some areas so this function is important and the test should be no later than 3 weeks after the course starting.Usually for those in full time education an intensive course is not suitable due to the flexibility required.The next thing to decide is the type of course you require.Courses are broken down into days and hours relevant to the pupils experience.Its important to choose the correct course or you could find yourself unprepared, feeling under pressure and reducing the chances of passing.Most course providers will have information on the website guiding you or alternatively a number to call with helpful advice.
